What are your hobbies outside of sports?

Golf and Snow Skiing, also keeping the wife happy!

What are your tailgating rituals?

Usually start preparing for the tailgate a week ahead of time by emailing our group and getting food and drink ideas.   We use a company at both Falcons and Auburn games that sets up our tent and chairs, the Tailgate Guys.  We always have the same tailgating spot so we know each week what to expect with our location.  On game day I usually get to tailgate about 4-5 hours before kickoff.   Everyone brings some food and drinks to share.

What’s the best sport bars you’ve been to?

There are way too many to name the best bar I have been too.  But my local sports bar is Laseters Tavern here in Atlanta.   Great bar with great food and fun people with plenty of TVs for all the games that day.

What’s your favorite hotels you travel to when going to see your team/players play?

The Collegiate is my number one hotel to visit in Auburn for home games.  Has a great roof top bar.

What’s your favorite city to visit?

Chicago in the U.S. and Madrid when I travel to Europe for work.

What were your favorite games?

#1 2013 Iron Bowl “kick six game when Auburn beat Alabama to clinch the SEC WEST.

#2 1993 NBA Finals, MJ dropped 55pts on the Suns

Describe the best BBQ /hotdog/hamburger/slice of pizza you’ve ever had?

Best BBQ I have had in Atlanta by far is the Heirloom Market.  Also Interstate BBQ in Memphis is my favorite sauce.  For Hotdogs it has gotta be a traditional style Chicago dog with Vienna Beef and all the fixings.   For Pizza it has to be a Sausage Deep Dish from Lou Malnati’s in Chicago.  Best wings are from Buffalo’s Cafe here in Atlanta and their homemade Blue Cheese is to die for.

How are you showing your fandom from home during Coronavirus?

Watching a lot of Braves games and hoping for football season.

How would you feel if your season is canceled?

That would hurt.  We need some positive things to happen in 2020 and Falcon and Auburn football would be a good start for me.

How do you spend your time that would typically be for sports viewing?

Thinking about sports and playing golf.

Will you attend a live sports event when sports reopen and what’s your greatest concern?

Will attend a game or two to see how it goes but really not interested in going if I have to wear a mask the whole game with limited fans.  I feel like that takes away from the “live” experience.

What are your hobbies outside of sports?

I’m an avid tennis fan playing on average once a week during the spring through fall months. Favorite player, John McEnroe. Loved his passion for the game. I also coach Special Olympics softball and tennis and play on unified teams (Partners and Special Need Athletes playing together) as well. Beyond that, I really enjoy spring and summer yard work. Planting flowers and the smell and look of a freshly mowed lawn is well worth the sweat.

What are your tailgating rituals?

I only tailgate at KC Chiefs games.

Always arrive early (approx. 3-4 hours prior to the start of the game)

Have more than enough food and drink.

At approx 1 hour prior to the start of the game, enter the stadium and get to row 1 to or as close to the players as possible to watch warm-ups, see your favorite players, and jeer at the opposing team.

Always, but always be in your seat for the playing of the National Anthem!

What’s the best sport bars you’ve been to?

For eating, Chappell’s Restaurant and Sports Museum. 323 Armour Road. KC MO. I used to live a few blocks from this place, but it has lot’s of sports memorabilia and great food. For watching a big game… “There’s no place like home!” or anyplace with numerous large screen tv’s.

What were your favorite games?

Being at Arrowhead stadium when Marcus Allen and Joe Montana played. When they were introduced at the start of the game, it was so deafening loud,  you could feel the stadium rock and not hear the person next to you! That’s a memory I’ll never forget! Derrick Thomas sacking quarterbacks during his time was always exciting. Later on, yelling constantly at Chiefs Coach Marty Schottenhiemer to get the ball in the hands of Tony Gonzalez. Soooo frustrating.

Describe the best BBQ /hotdog/hamburger/slice of pizza you’ve ever had?

I grew up near a Gate’s & Son’s BBQ restaurant and that was always good. But as an adult, I don’t think you can beat Jack Stack BBQ and beans. Hands down the very best.

How are you showing your fandom from home during Coronavirus?

At work I’m a Human Resources Director and follow our company COVID-19 cases very closely. With that being said, my wife and I are really staying close to home, wearing our masks, and practicing safe distancing. We rarely venture out. So, there is no fandom going on it our household beyond the KC Royals, KC Chiefs, and Kansas University (basketball) 3×5 flags that hang outside of our house and change with the seasons.

How would you feel if your season is canceled?

Very disappointed, but I completely “get it”. Health and safety first and hopefully no more lives will be lost and we can resume next year.

How do you spend your time that would typically be for sports viewing?

Working in my yard or piddling around the house.

Will you attend a live sports event when sports reopen and what’s your greatest concern?

I’ve thought about that and have said, even if offered free tickets to the Royals, Chiefs, or KU games, I would decline this year. I absolutely love living and will wait until we are well past COVID-19. I’m good with watching previously aired sports on TV.

What are your hobbies outside of sports?

Playing music, hiking, fitness, travel

What are your tailgating rituals?

We go to the same spot every time, just adjacent to The Merc. My buddy is a great cook, so he always has something special that he grills. Otherwise, we just hang out, talk crap, drink beer, and listen to tunes.

What’s the best sport bars you’ve been to?

We really focus more on the quality of the food.  Everyplace has booze and TVs.

What’s your favorite hotels you travel to when going to see your team/players play?

I’m a Marriott guy.

What’s your favorite city to visit?

Chicago, because it’s home.

What were your favorite games?

Rivalry games. Florida-Georgia. Florida-FSU. Falcons-Saints. Braves-Nationals. etc.

Describe the best BBQ /hotdog/hamburger/slice of pizza you’ve ever had?

BBQ was smoky and tender, with spicy rub

Burger was just a little greasy with tons of cheese.

Pizza is Lou Malnati’s from Chicago.  Lots of cheese and sausage.

How are you showing your fandom from home during Coronavirus?

Watching games; sometimes with friends.

Texting each other during games.

Wearing team gear.

Sometimes preparing food around game, like a tailgate ritual, but on the porch.

How would you feel if your season is canceled?

Pissed.

How do you spend your time that would typically be for sports viewing?

Complaining that I want to go to the games. There are always household projects to do.  Plus, Netflix, etc.

Will you attend a live sports event when sports reopen and what’s your greatest concern?

Absolutely.  No real concerns… you just need to be smart.
